Cabinet – 2023-24
As a newbie, lost in my own world, with no friends
whatsoever, I was all in the hunt of finding a safe space for myself. To this
day, I remember applying for SVC and expressing my worries to my dad about my
entry not being enough to stand against the others registering to be a part of
the society. But when I saw my name in the list of the participants who made it
to the inner circle, I was overjoyed! I promised to devote myself to SVC that
very day.
5 months into SVC as a member, then taking on my role
as the President for the first time had me shaking in my boots. Still, it was
because of my members and the Cabinet before us, who trusted me and encouraged
me to stand for the elections, that I was held grounded and gave my best in
this position as the President and as a member of SVC. It has given me the
privilege to introduce myself as the President of the Society for Visual
Cultures for the second time now, and I will always be elated.
For SVC, I plan to build upon my oversights and present
myself to the members better than before. Communication is the fore-step.
Nothing can be without communication. This implies maintaining good
relationships with the members even when we are not in a professional space.
With communication, once trust is established within the team, anything is
possible as long as we stand together. It becomes a safe space for the team.
Being a part of SVC for more than 2 years now, I
guarantee it has been a rollercoaster ride, which I plan on enjoying till the
end of my time at AUD, and I promise to not leave this space with regrets.
Khushi Ahuja – Vice President – Cracked
Energy
Hey everyone, I’m Khushi, the vice president of SVC.
I’ve been a part of SVC since February 2022, and it’s been one crazy journey.
Going from being a regular member to handling the social media department and
now landing the role of vice president has left me with a whirlwind of emotions
that I can hardly put into words.
SVC has always been my go-to safe haven, where I
connect with a fantastic group of people I hold dear. We come together, hang
out, explore, and simply have fun. It’s not just a society; it’s a wild and
wonderful family, complete with all the chaos, lectures, fun, and craziness you
can imagine. The members of this society have evolved from just being members –
they’re an integral part of my college journey.
Going to photo walks, meet-ups, and meetings to
stopping randomly on the campus just to turn around and see five other crazy
humans stopping to click pictures is the true essence of being in SVC. We would
all be standing in a group and talking, and everyone would assume that it is an
SVC meet because that is how close we have all come to be. SVC is a crazy, chaotic,
creative, happy, and safe space for me, and I am very grateful to be a part of
it and contribute to it.

Nandini Garg – Scriptwriter Head – Freak

Heyyyo, I am Nandini, the First Scriptwriter Head of
SVC. Yeah, first! Turns out this middle child can be first at a few things. So,
I remember, I joined SVC in February 2023. Yeah, it’s not even an entire year.
I joined as a scriptwriter, still remember when I got the email and I was like
for the photo walks, for those mini trips, I should join.
But didn’t know after joining SVC, it would turn out
such a big deal for me. From writing captions of photos and reels to writing blog
posts, From freaking out on the trip to heading a batch of aspiring
scriptwriters. I can say I have come a long way in SVC, in college, and in
life.
This is one aspect of SVC that it’s not only limited
to society meetings or photo walks but also that feeling of being at the place where
you belong. Everyone in SVC is of different honor courses, different
perspectives, and different shapes, we are like those undefined pieces of a Jigsaw
puzzle, which will only make sense when we go together.
So, this might look like just a mere intro of the
cabinet of SVC, but The Society of Visual Cultures is a wide spectrum of colors,
where everyone is of explicit shades. You can either increase the colors in
our palette or can find your own shade.
